I think it’s pretty fair to say, the former Etonian and Cambridge student is really rather posh. Even as Thor’s bitter and twisted angry (adopted) brother Loki, every time he repeatedly promised to destroy Earth in his fantastic clipped accent, I wanted to scream at the multiplex screen, “Loki, do me bad things”.
I think it’s Tom’s old school charm that makes me want to twine myself around his legs and purr like a cat. Even without the Loki costume (horns and cape and a cracking evil black hair do) I was still utterly enthralled watching him in the Beeb’s recent adaptation of Henry IV all grimy and princy.
I’m not sure if it’s his gingery hair, his furrowed brow, or the glint in his eye, but if you haven’t already, you need to see him suited and booted – no man wears a three-piece suit like Hiddleston. (Google images is your friend)
Catch Loki, sorry I mean Tom, in Avengers Assemble on DVD and Bluray 17 September. I’m now going to draw my curtains, boot up the bluray, and have myself some superhero alone time.
