My daily wardrobe choices have shrunk to a sullen rotation of jeans-with-a-shirt, cropped-wool-trousers-with-a-shirt and green-skirt-with... yeah, a shirt. I am SO BORED of this.
Obviously I could go wild in the shops, buying up armfuls of new season 'trends' and wearing them all at the same time with an "In your FACE" to the weather, but that's never going to happen, because I'm mean. So instead I'm sitting here happily trawling the internet to see what things I'd quite like to buy, maybe, one day, if I had the time, money and inclination and you know what? It's just as good...
If I had hundreds, nay, thousands of pounds sitting in a piggy bank marked 'frivolous fashion purchases' I would spend it all on Caroline Issa's collection for L.K. Bennett. I know, who would've thought that the queen of chic, understated street style would collaborate with such a Sloaney, MOR brand? Well she did, and it's freakin' amazing, all vibrant embroidery, pom poms and general jazziness. Just look.
And because the few feeble daffodils in my front garden have given up the ghost in despair, I'd quite like a top smothered in big, blowsy roses please. Thank you Zara.
I haven't had a chance to visit the new & Other Stories store yet (this is H&M's latest spin-off brand) but a quick canter around their website is getting me pretty excited. There's a LOT to look at, it's all been shot in an editorial, almost 'fashion blogger' style and the clothes, accessories and beauty products are intriguing - simple, minimalist shapes and striking colours, all very cool and Skandi.
I'm going to stick my neck out and say that I don't think cropped, or '7/8ths' trousers are going anywhere soon. This is a Very Good Thing as they are so chic - that length, cropped just above the ankle bone, is so flattering and looks just as good with flats - loafers, trainers or brogues - as with the new season's mid-height heels.
And I'll close with this cute little video preview of Celia Birtwell's latest collection for Uniqlo. The gorgeous archive prints have been reworked into tops, leggings, pajama pants, culottes, tote bags and stoles and are available in store and online from March 21.
Happy pretend shopping friends! So what are your plans for the weekend?
